OPEN TO YOUTH 12 YEARS AND OLDER

One way to use a llama is to enrich the lives of others through 4H.  The Hummers are twenty youth between the ages of 11-17 who come to the farm and work with the llamas. They adopt one or two llamas as their 4H project. They are responsible for training the animal for fair, weekly farm chores including manure cleanup, helping to put up hay and other activities related to the care of the animals.

Events for 2007 will include a 4H llama show in Lansing, Holiday parades in town (4th of July, Scottville Harvest Festival, Spirit of the Season, Scottville), visits to local retirement homes, Llamas at the Library night, participation in the Western Michigan Fair and a variety of hikes.

Craft projects will include making dry felted llamas from their llama's fiber,  lead ropes and tassels for their llamas, locker hooking with llama fibre, beaded llama jewelry, papier mache llamas, llama photography and educational posters.
